It happened on April 3, 1973, I don’t think anyone had any idea how our lives would forever change. I remember my grandma purchasing a car with a phone in it. It makes me laugh thinking how cell phones were introduced in vehicles and now, they make laws against using a cell phone in a car. Oh, how the times change. On that day in April, the first mobile phone call was made with the help of Motorola. The Motorola DynaTAC 8000x was first sold on March 13, 1984 and recently purchased from someone in either Chicago, Baltimore or Washington for $3,995 . Makes me rethink throwing any of my old cell phones away. March 6, 1983, saw the launch of 1G was available costing over 100 million dollars to develop. Now we have 4G and they are already working on developing 5G possibly around year 2020.

Every year we are amazed by new cell phones and options available to us. We have apps for everything except cleaning my house (maybe one day…I can dream, can’t I?). I don’t know about you, but I use my phone less for calling and more for email, text, facebook and taking pictures.

I get so excited about new gadgets. In fact, some of the employees at Best Buy know me by my name. Embarrassing! I would love to know some of your first cell phone memories? Do you know who you first texted? Or called? We would love to hear your stories. Leave me some comments below.
